Battle of the Books 2016
Peggy Eddleman, author of Sky Jumpers, visits Stevenson Elementary
Students in grades 3-6 were encouraged to enter a writing contest to win the opportunity to eat lunch with Peggy Eddleman. One student from each grade level was chosen. The lucky winners were Aimee Lewis, Emma Kern, Grace Wallish, and Riley Singleton. These lucky girls not only had lunch with Peggy, but they also shared their stories with her and learned more about her family and how she became a writer.
Peggy then spent the afternoon talking to all students in 3rd and 4th grade about the importance of working with their strengths to figure out what they’re good at and to use those strengths to make the world a better place. Peggy concluded her visit by speaking to the 5th and 6th grade students about the steps to becoming a writer and the importance of the revision process. It was a great afternoon with a pretty fabulous author! |
Our Monster book fair and reading night were a huge success. We earned over $2,000 in cash and in Scholastic Dollars for our school. We would also like to thank all of the students who participated in the storybook pumpkin decorating contest. The pumpkins were well done and were enjoyed by all who visited the library. Because of your efforts, we raised $143.47 for Meals on Wheels. Way to go Cubs!

Night at the Library
We just had our very first Night at the Library to honor students who read all 20 Bluebonnet books. The night was a HUGE success, and it looks as though there will be another next year! Interested? Then, start reading those Bluebonnet books. Remember, you must read all 20 to be able to participate.
Libraries in the Internet Age
Stevenson Elementary is fortunate to have a wonderful library. We have thousands of items for students, teachers and parents to use for pleasure and schoolwork. Our library features both print and electronic resources, and the number of available resources will continue to grow. Our goal is to nurture a love for literature, develop a life long appreciation for libraries, books, and reading.
Our library currently has 4 student computer workstations. Patrons may use these to look up books and complete research.
The library is available for use from 7:30am – 3:00pm daily.
